Which is better – 49 mhz or 27 mhz for first rc truck?

I am shopping for an rc truck – off-road version, for my son. He is 10 years old. Which power level would be best?

   mhz aint power level, its the frequency of the controller. so you can race a 27 and a 49 at the same time, but if you run a 27 and 27, both r/c’s are pretty much gonna do the same thing! same with 49
