that battery will last about ten minutes in a stock xl-5.
the only difference between the xl-5 and the vxl is the motor system. the vxl is a brushless powered system that has crazy power. but if you’re looking at the vxl, don’t even bother with a 1500 mah battery. you’ll want at least 3000 mah NiMH packs. you didn’t mention your experience with r/c cars. if you’ve got experience, the vxl is a must. if you’re just getting into it, then go with the xl-5. that is plenty of performance for any beginner. and you can always upgrade to a system that eats the vxl for breakfast: the mamba max. either way, you’re not making a bad decision either way!
