Electronic lights kit for model building.?
So I bought one of these light kits on ebay a while ago.

now, I have installed it into one of my lego fire houses and it works great! except that for some reason it drains my 9V battery in less than 10 minutes… I changed the battery, and it does the same thing. I check the voltage and its on red. But I check the battery again later, the battery seems to slowly go back to being green and full. I think something is wrong with the light kit. I dont want to send it back yet, and want to see whats wrong. Could someone help? Could it be the switch thats the problem? Could it be the polarity?
You will probably do better with alkaline batteries, but they are more expensive.
Your current draw appears large, are these LED’s flashing by an internal or external device…. do all reds at once then all blues at once flash alternately? If so, the flash controller must be external.
Maybe it’s chewing up the battery.
It’s normal for batteries to recover some, when the current demanded of them is high.
Maybe you should consider powering them from a more reliable source? Maybe a mains DC adapter? It would need to be able to deliver at least the same current… it would be handy if you could measure what this arrangement is drawing from the battery.
