Modify an electric rc car?

I have a working electric rc ford monster truck. I want to modify it so that it has a cool body, and goes faster. Any tips on how to do this?

I want to make the body myself.
Everything works fine on the car…..

    if it is a cheap one from wal mart or a deparment store it will not work
