You will be wildly uplifted by the insight of this article.  But, I’m getting ahead of myself …

You are faced with turbulent economic conditions – possibly worse than ever in your life.  Some people are doing nothing.  Some people are just hoping to survive, just make it.  But not you!  You ..

You Are Different.  You Want To THRIVE!

You want to, and can, get out of debt – Because of this turbulent economy.  You want  huge profits – Because of this turbulent economy.

Is this really possible?  YES!  Not only is it possible, it is not that tough – if you have one special skill needed to thrive in this economy.  Are you interested in learning what this amazing skill is?  Well then, read on because …

You’ve Already Got This Special Skill!  But You Need to Know What it is!

To truly understand the power of this skill (which you need and which you already have), you must read this little story within this article.  See if you can figure out the skill you need from this story as you are reading it…

If You Are More Than 30 Years Old …

- Your mother likely smoked or drank while she was pregnant.  She took aspirin, ate fatty blue cheese dressing and tuna directly from a can.

- You were put to sleep on your tummy in a baby crib covered with lead-based paints.  There were no child-proof lids on medicine bottles or cabinets.

- You rode your bike with no helmet and probably hitchhiked.

- You rode in your parents’ car with no car seat, no booster seat, no seat belt and no air bags.  Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat

- You drank water from the garden hose.

- You shared one soft drink with four friends, from the same bottle.

- You ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter, lots of meat and drank Kool-Aid made with mounds of sugar.

- You would spend hours building a go-cart then ride it down the hill, only to find out you forgot the brakes.  After running into the bushes a few times, you learned to solve the problem.

- You did not have PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox, iPod or video games.

- You did not have 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVDs or CDs, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chatrooms!

- You fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

- You ate worms, you ran through the house holding scissors – and you were OK.

- You made up games with sticks and, although you were told it would happen, you actually did not poke out your eyes.

- Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. If you didn’t, you had to learn to deal with disappointment.

- The idea of your parents bailing you out if you broke the law was unheard of; they actually sided with the law!

What Can You Learn From This History Lesson?

You, and others in your generation, produced some of the best risk-takers, problem-solvers, entrepreneurs, business-builders and inventors ever!  The past 30 years have been an explosion of innovation never experienced before on Earth.

You had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and you learned to deal with it all.

What’s the point?  What’s the skill you need that you already have?  Read on,

You Already Know How To Deal With Failure, Mistakes and Hardship !! That’s Your Skill.

CONGRATULATIONS! You had the luck to grow up as a kid before lawyers and government regulated so much of your life for your own good.  You had the good fortune to not be deprived of the natural consequences of your actions.  If you broke a neighbor’s window, you saved up your allowance or did chores to repay the neighbor.  If you shop-lifted, your parents made you return the stolen item and apologize.  And, all these lessons made you strong.

I Too Have Learned These Tough Lessons

I proposed marriage a few years ago to a woman who turned me down.  I was inconsolable for a half-year, till Karyn, the REAL woman of my dreams, came along.  Karyn is now my fiancee and I would not have this delight in my life if it were not for the “failure” I suffered when I was rejected.

I applied for a job almost 30 years ago that I knew was the dream job of my life.  I pursued that job for six months and finally did not get the job.  I was heart-broken.  I thought my career was over.  Then, shortly afterward, I gave my first speech and it launched my life.  If I had won that job, I would have been working 60 hours a week and would likely not have launched my speaking and teaching career, certainly not for a long time.  It was only BECAUSE of that failure that I am a success.

I felt the pain of a horrid divorce battle, but that pain opened my heart and I am now more loving and less self-centered in my dealings with other people.  Though I definitely do not wish to relive that divorce horror, I am now so glad that I lived through it to learn my lessons. The central theme of all “failure” is that it does indeed seem BAD at the time, then looking backwards, it was the best possible experience because of the lessons learned.

So, What Can You Do Now, Knowing You Have Skills of Resourcefulness and of Recovering from Failure

Here are your tasks:

1. Begin stating: “This troubled economy will eventually be viewed by me as the best experience of my life, even though I don’t see how at this moment.”

2. Begin seeking opportunities.  Listen differently when your friends or neighbors complain.  Listen for the entrepreneurial possibilities instead of hearing only the grief.  Listen for how you can solve their problems instead of just agreeing with them that their problems are terrible.

3. Leave me your comments and rate this article so that I can make my future articles even more important to you.
