When did Mattel start producing career-themed Barbie dolls?
I know that Barbie was launched in March of 1959, but I was wondering if anyone knew the year (or even the decade) that Mattel began to introduce career-themed Barbies.
Technically 1959 Barbie No. 1 was career themed, as she was a teenage fashion model. In 1961 Registered Nurse Barbie came out, and in 1965, Astronaut Barbie started showing little girls that they can be anything they want when they grow up. Careers have been a constant theme with Barbie since day 1.
