An easy project to monitor temperature. EE majors, please reply…?
I’d like to make a device that monitors the temperature of an object and make a beep when a certain temperature is reached. A nice-to-have requirement on top of this is to only make a beep when the temperature T is exceed for T seconds.
How can I make this with minimal cost/effort?
I can solder. I am an engineer, but doesn’t have EE background.
I’ve always wanted to learn EE stuff, but I ended up doing software rather than hardware…
Use a thermistor in a wheatstone bridge, so you have a ratiometric differential signal which depends on temperature. This feeds an op-amp or comparator, which feeds an integrator. The output of the integrator feeds another comparator, which drives the beeper (a piezo). Check out the datasheet for LM339, which has 4 opamps in one package. Very cheap.
