Tyre physics problem?
I need urgent help for an assignment that is due for tomorrow..
the front two wheels of a rear wheel drive car are 300mm in diameter and have disk type brakes consisting of a ring with inside diameter 70mm and outside diameter 150mm. if the axial force is 1kN when the car moves at a constant speed, what is the frictional force between the tyre and roada surface when the coefficient of friction between the tyre and the disk is 0.35.
explaining this question would be extremely helpful, as this is the only question i cant answer in the course, and it has to be in by tomorrow! thanks!

Assuming Uniform Wear Condition,
Friction Torque T = μ F (ro + ri)/2
Where F = Actuating Force
r i, r o = Inner, Outer radius of brake.
μ = Coefficient of Friction.
==> T =0.35 x 1 x 10³ x (150 +70) x 10⁻³] = 77 N m
Now, Torque = Force x Distance = P D
==> P = T/D = 77/(300 x 10⁻³) =256.67 N
Thus, Frictional Force between the Tyre and the road is 256.67 N (under Uniform Wear)
