Can someone explain what my knee MRI means?
The literal meniscus demonstrates a focal tear. The medial meniscus appears intact.
Patella cartilage demonstrates subtle diffuse edema on axial image signifying minimal chodromalacia.
Erosion of patellar cartridge is seen.
There is a slight lateral patella tilt noted.
Conclusion: Subtle chondromalacia patella is seen. No Chondromalacia seen in medial or lateral joint compartments, no ligamentous or meniscal injury is evident.
Should I still plan on running a marathon in 3 weeks?
You need to consult with your orthopaedist, but it sounds as though you have a tear of your lateral meniscus. Ouch!!
