Computed Tomography Scan- A Sophisticated Method To Find Précised Look Inside The Body

Computed Tomography (CT) scan is an imaging method used for medical purposes. This method employs computer processing to snap shots and is able to put together a three-dimensional (3D) model of whatever is being imaged. The digital geometry processing is used to generate the 3D images of the internal structure of the object. It includes a large series of two-dimensional X-ray images taken around a single axis of rotation. On the other hand MRI scanners generate the same pictures without using X-rays.

Under the CT scans, physicians use highly specialized kind of X-rays to generate suitable images of the bone structure, soft tissue, internal organs and blood vessels. Patient is required to lie down on a couch during the CT scan procedure. Now it slides into a chamber which performs X-ray of the entire body. The generated result is transferred to a computer which helps physicians to assess the whole situation. The produced volume of data can be manipulated through a specific process called “windowing” that helps to demonstrate various bodily structures based on their ability to block the X-ray/Rontgen beam. Computer Axial Tomography (CAT) scans are very useful for determining the anatomy and structure of bones and organs.

Computed tomography scan is a non-invasive treatment process that does not render any painful situation during test. It is being used for the full body scan purposes. This method is typically used to detect brain injury, skull fractures, soft tissue, blood vessels, brain tumors, blood clot. It helps to determine inflammation or other changes in the paranasal sinuses, plan radiation therapy for cancer of the brain or other tissues. The CT scanning process combines special sophisticated X-ray equipment to generate multiple images of the inside structure of the body. These cross-sectional images can be examined on a computer monitor or printed form. Therefore radiologists can easily diagnose some fatal diseases like cancer, infectious disease, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular disease etc. Though this imaging technique is safe to use but there are some side effects of the CT scan, such as allergic reaction to the intravenous contrast material, itching, skin rash and hives.

does anyone know what transitional lumbar anatomy is????

I recently had a mri of the lumbar spine. the findings were : The patient has transitional lumbosacral anatomy. for discussion purposes, the first axial T2-weighted image defines the inferior endplate of L2. on the sagittal images, there is no significant disproportionate intervertebral disc space narrowing or disc desiccation. Allignment is essentially normal. The bone marrow signal is normal. the conus medullaris terminates at a normal anatomic level

Transitional vertebral bodies are a connom variant in the bony anatomy
of the spinal column, in which there is partial fusing of the bone of
two adjacent vertebrae. The role of this anomaly in producing symptoms
is controversial, it is seen in 4-5% of the population and of itself does
not require surgery.
It is believed that there may be a higher incidence of nerve root compression
in patients with transitional vertebrae,but this does not happen in all
cases by any means.
